The Brooklyn Phase

29.1.07

It has been a while since we posted anything, but now that I have sent my application for grad school in I have a lot more free time on my hands. And I need to keep myself busy to keep from worrying about getting in. So a bit of catching up.

The Christmas holidays were busy with visiting family. We first spent several days down in Austin where we spent time with my family. For the last night of Hanukkah, Adrien and I made: latkes, pan seared halibut, gold coin carrots, asparagus greyuer tart and had a donut menorah for dessert. For two of the nights Adrien and I stayed in a funky little motel, the Austin Motel, which put us right near downtown- close to the restaurants, nightlife, and shopping.

While staying downtown we saw the David Sederis play, and Alamo Draft House Sinus Showing of Die Hard. We also got our fill of queso, margaritas, and Austin shopping. Christmas Day we had a great brunch with the traditional cheese and egg dish along with home made cinnamon roles, rosemary potatoes, and brown sugar bacon. Presents were exchanged with everyone getting things they wanted. We than took the drive out to enchanted rock where we hiked up 425 feet to the top of the rock. Along the way we had the joy of seeing some of the biggest cat fish heads any of us had seen before strung up on some ranch guys fence.
